'Summer Branch Drop' is the sudden breaking and dropping of tree limbs with no apparent reason or cause. As the name suggests, this phenomenon occurs in warm summer months when there is no or very little wind and research suggests it usually happens in the afternoon.

There is no concrete explanation for these incidents and it can happen to healthy trees as well as those with existing problems. While 'Summer Branch Drop' is fairly rare, it does happen and usually without any warning.

Please ensure your trees are in good health and have them checked out on a regular basis. If you have any questionable looking branches, particularly large, heavy ones hanging over buildings or public roads and footpaths, consider getting your trees trimmed.
